St. Antoninus Church and Parish School

Working with the Energy Alliance, St. Antoninus Church and Parish School upgraded aging, inefficient heating equipment and saw immediate energy savings. The existing boilers, some over 50 years old, were not only expensive to run, they were getting increasingly expensive to maintain.

With project management and financial assistance from the Energy Alliance, St. Antoninus was able to upgrade to new high-efficiency, lower maintenance boilers. In the 3 months following the installation of their new boilers, St. Antoninus experienced $8,146 in energy savings compared to the same period the previous year.

With the help of the Energy Alliance, St. Antoninus was able to reduce by over three years the amount of time it would take for the energy savings of the new equipment to pay for itself. With less money going to heating bills and maintenance, they are now able to more effectively serve their parishioners and students.

“Our greatest opportunity to provide energy efficiency was to replace our 50+ year old boilers. With the grant money St. Antoninus received, we were able to move more quickly with the project, resulting in some early savings of more than $8,000 in utility costs over a three-month period of time.”

Mt. Washington United Methodist Church

Mount Washington Methodist Church was the first organization to complete the nonprofit program and benefit from the Energy Alliance's building assessment expertise and financial support.

They Replaced:

  • 125 light fixtures with more efficient T-8 fluorescent bulbs
  • 12 year old boiler with 96% efficient new boiler
  • Outdated air conditioner equipment

They Reduced:

  • Annual lighting electricity usage by 35%
  • Annual heating use by 25%
  • Annual cooling use by 25%

Mount Washington UMC will save an average of $8,000 per year over the life of the installed equipment.

"Because of this grant we will be able to use money that would have gone to our utility bills to instead go to ministry to make a positive difference for Christ in people’s lives.”
